SUBJECT: The Ongoing Fight Against Censorship

I listened to the podcast you organized with Alina Ajaz about the fight against book bans. I am on the management team with KCR College Radio and have worked alongside Alina and Kat Portela.

Access to information is under attack. Last week, Library Foundation SD organized Banned Books Week Oct. 5 through Oct. 11. The week is over, but censorship isn’t – 81 titles were targeted in California’s public schools and libraries in 2024. 

I can connect you with an expert from the San Diego Public Library who will:

• Discuss the growth of censorship

• Detail actions individuals can take to advocate against book bans

• Speak on the importance of access to information in public libraries and schools

KPBS’ audience supports public media, which carries the same spirit of advocacy against censorship.
