San Diego Sun

SUBJECT: Downtown Central Library Welcomes Banned Books Week Events

We met when you spoke about the San Diego Sun in David Coddon’s Magazine and Feature Writing class last spring – I was the sole public relations student. Your presentation stuck with me because it underscored the value of community life coverage of downtown San Diego.

Library Foundation SD is organizing Banned Books Week to recognize the freedom to read and fight against censorship. The week, taking place Oct. 5 through Oct. 11, will include events at the San Diego Central Library at Joan Λ Irwin Jacobs Common.

Local libraries are pillars of urban communities. I would like to connect you with an expert from Library Foundation SD to speak on:

  • Activities at the San Diego Central Library

  • The importance of open dialogue on censorship

  • Ways downtown San Diegans can participate in Banned Books Week events

Banned Books Week events give downtown residents opportunities to become more educated about censorship and its dangers within our community.

I still have your card. Will Wednesday be a good day to call and coordinate an interview?

Best regards,
