Suntan in the Process of Creating their First Music Video
SAN DIEGO – Suntan is in the process of creating a music video for their song “Newport”. The song has been part of the band’s discography for a long time, but they are just now getting the opportunity to film a video for it. This will be the band’s first music video.
“Newport” will be filmed at Sunset Cliffs, San Diego. According to Ruhi Shroff, Suntan’s drummer, the video will feature the band in awesome outfits playing their song on the beach and at the cliffs. Notably, it will also be filmed on the beach at sunset, a great fit for the band's vibe according to Shroff.
The story of the song is centered around seeing a mystery girl at Newport Beach and wanting to get to know her. Through this the speaker knows he wants to love her, and the music video wants to capture the feeling of the band’s impression while including the themes of the song.
Suntan was given the opportunity to create the video for free by winning a raffle through SDSU’s Aztec Music Group. AMG put on the raffle during the semester of Spring 2024 in collaboration with Television, Film, and New Media students. The video will be made by film students Lika Kheltuplishvili and Julia Nguyen.
There is currently no set date for the release of the music video, but for now, “Newport” can be streamed on the band’s spotify page.
